For most families, daycare expenses form a huge chunk of their monthly budget, and it has become extremely difficult for them to see a way through it.

For most families, daycare expenses form a huge chunk of their monthly budget, and it has become extremely difficult for them to see a way through it.
Not only that, in Canada at least, both federal and most provincial governments have significantly cut already miserably low allocations to support childcare. They clearly believe that women should not work outside the home and are doing everything they can to limit the ability of women to succeed. I know that it’s even more difficult in other places.
We need a fully federally funded daycare system in this country. And that will only happen if we get the paternalistic, business-loving, people-hating Conservative government out of office.
End of rant. Sorry. You’re just so right and it makes me so angry that our governments give billions to greedy, selfish fat cat bankers and industrialists while allowing (in fact ensuring that) children live in poverty.

I totally disagree with you. I want to raise my own children, so why should I pay for someone to take care of yours. You talk likes it some kind of right, that your children should be taken care of at the expense of others.
You are absolutely right though, the government shouldn’t be giving any money to bankers. So aren’t you contradicting yourself. That is why the government shouldn’t be giving money to anyone except, e.g. the military to protect us,
Daisy, you truly don’t agree with me and that’s ok – I’m sure not the fount of all wisdom. But I don’t understand how you get to the need for a national childcare policy from this post about Peak Poential Training. I don’t tend to post my political and social opinion on this site – I have other ones for that – and can’t recall expressing my ideas on the need for provincial and federal Living Wage and Poverty Reduction policies, backed up by targets and timelines, anywhere on this site. But maybe you know me from elsewhere…
I’m glad you are going to raise your own children. I admire that. I assume you will also home-school them and put the cast on their arm if they are unfortunate enough to break one. Even the weird US health care system gets plenty of government money (they just hide it well) and, of course, the school system is pretty much entirely paid for by government. I won’t get started on the military. We all live in the midst of our own contradictions.
It adds spice to life, I think!
